PEI is the best place to ride a bicycle. I flew there and met a lovely lady that I met thru advertising on Adventure Cycling for a travel partner. Her and I met in PEI and rode our bikes for two weeks. Things we will never forget include...red dirt in five years it never comes off your tent or your shoes...the raccoons are huge and aggressive and will rip into your tent in the night while you sleep to steal toothpaste.....while you cycle along peaceful ocean roads the rest of the world will be in motor homes dressing up like Anne and visiting the wax museum.....they have RANGE LIGHTS..miniature lighthouses..and they have real LIGHTHOUSES too....The funniest thing..the girls in the information booth (every information booth employee except ANDREW doesn't come from there and their Aunt got them the job) when we asked about the birds in the yard of the information booth they said..."oh people ask us that all the time, but we don't know. we just work here" And we still want to know WHY DOES EVERY OTHER HOUSE HAVE A PLASTIC DOG ON THE PORCH or A LITTLE BOY FISHING?

  • Oh dear "where did I put the buns?" No kidding we went into the store and bought more buns, because I couldn't find them...fortunately we were able to eat all the buns with fresh Jam made in Summerside, PEI
  • Sons of Scotland PEI has the best cemeteries..we spent hours in every one.

The best headstone we have seen ever was here. It listed a woman's name, then Mother of and all her children's names, Grandmother of and the grandchildren's names and then said...."the greatest mother this community has ever known, to this day her children call her name out in the darkness"
  • Irish Mossing PEI has distinct settlements. Part of the island are Acadia they fly the french flag in their yard and speak french. One area is Irish, with accents and Street names, and big Clydesdale horses or tractors for gathering IRISH MOSS which is exported for use in Toothpaste and making JELLO. Whole families go into the water with horses or machinery and gather the moss from the ocean floor. This photo shows them using a tractor. The sea water is very hard on machinery or horses and there was quite a d
