After over 26 years as a Boatswain’s Mate in the U.S. Coast Guard, we would like to see “Chip” travel to “Beardedbosn’s” duty stations. Unless otherwise noted, placement in any cache within a 10 mile radius of each listed Zip Code will be a step towards that goal. Since it took “Beardedbosn” more than 26 years to make the circuit, “Chip” has no time limit.
Until joining the Coast Guard in 1966, “Beardedbosn” lived in South Hempstead & Rockville Centre, NY under the alias Chris Cooke. The Cooke family were beach bums and spent as many days as they could each year at what was then the Town of Hempstead Park at Point Lookout. With the Short Beach Coast Guard Station just across Jones Inlet Chris often saw the Coast Guard boats out helping people. What better place to launch this TB then in the area that inspired a career.
