About This Item

back

This Geocoin is a replica of a golden coin (stater) of the celtic tribe Parisii (about 120 BC, Latour XXXI/7777, Lenqyel XXVIII-XXIX,
Blanchet 367 fig. 343, Forrer 253 fig. 444, Roth 136, Colbert de Beaulieu "Parisii"). They lived since about 300 years before Christ
in the region of today´s Paris, France and gave their name to this city, which was formerly called Lutetia. They were tough warriors
and skull collectors. They feared nothing but the sky falling upon their head. They refused to write down their own history. So, little
is known about their origins and their culture in general.
