About This Item

ShutterBug II, getting ready to be deployed

My original GeoCaching camera Travel Bug, ShutterBug was released near Frederick, Maryland with a goal of reaching the Willow Creek GeoCache near Lake Arrowhead, California, taking pictures along the way. Of my first three camera bugs, ShutterBug is the only one to have reached its destination.

It's been a while, and this little Travel Bug has had a good rest, but it's time to get it moving once again. ShutterBug is ready to move again, this time traversing the country from west to east, returning to its origins near Frederick, Maryland.

If you find ShutterBug, please keep the following ground rules in mind:

  • ShutterBug is going a long way, but he's taking a leisurely trip. Please move this camera no more than 150 miles in a single hop. If the nearest cache is more than 150 miles away, you can break this rule, but this probably won't be an issue.
  • Please don't be a "film hog". The camera only holds 27 exposures, so we ask that finders please take only one or two photos before moving it on.
  • If ShutterBug does run out of film along the way, send me an e-mail through this website or via the address on the camera, and we will arrange for replacement. There are several options for doing this, so we'll work out the best arrangement for you.
  • Log your find here on this page. It's amazing how many people will move a Travel Bug along without actually logging their particular leg of its journey. We'd like to see where ShutterBug has been, and we can't do that if people don't log its travels.
  • So that's it. ShutterBug is on the road again. Let's help him make it all the way back to Maryland!

Retrieve It from a Cache 1/15/2002 FullOn retrieved it from PennsylvaniaTrashCache@RedBerryHillOverlook California   Visit Log

Grabbed the Shutterbug from the PennsylvaniaTrashCache@RedBerryHill Overlook cache on lunch today. (Had to take a long lunch to find this one!) I will put it in a cache in the mountains near Lake Arrowhead. Looks like this one is almost to its destination. Good thing too, cause there's only 6 pics left. Took one pic of the area it was found at. Will take more where we leave it.

Write note 12/23/2001 CCCooperAgency posted a note for it   Visit Log

Shutterbug arrived at HEROES of FLIGHT #93 in Shanksville, PA a cache dedicated to the memory of the 40 who gave their lives on 9/11/01 so that many others in Washington DC might live. As Americans, they deserve our thanks. SHUTTERBUG was pround as an American to be part of this tribute & snapped a few shots as follows: 1) TheREALBug & Jr. CCCooperAgency making their official geocache log entry at the wall. 2) shot of crash site as seen from the USA & PA flags & cross at tribute location. 3) shot of the 40 angels set up as a tribute to the passengers of flight #93. Anyone from anywhere should make every effort to visit this site - it speaks volumes even amidst the quiet rolling mountains of PA. God bless America indeed - America BLESS God.

1st to find Radio Star (bright & early on either 1st day of hunting or close enough!)...neat location - reminds me of my college days. We will snap a shot of the family team buggin out with Shutterbug before he heads out.
