Hoots is a native of Okinawa, Japan and has been somewhat of a homebody all his life. Now Hoots wants to get out and explore Okinawa and the world, so he can meet other birds and maybe eat a few exotic mice.

Hoots

Hoots is a Ryukyu Scops Owl (Otus elegans) also called the Ryukyu tree-leaf horned-owl. We saw some of his feathered brethren at NEO Park in Okinawa, Japan. Ryukyu Scops Owls are common residents of Okinawa. There was not much more information on the internet on Ryukyu Scops Owls. Next time we are at NEO Park, we will take better notes.
