Lone Oak Tree once stood tall and proud in Eagan, Minnesota until the highway department encroached upon its roots. His branches were reduced to cross sections and distributed throughout the land. Now Lone Oak Tree's brother, Grandfather Tree, wants him to come home for a visit. Please Note: the free prize formerly offered with this find is no longer available but thanks for moving it along.
I think it's Barbara Walters who asks celebrities, "If you could be a tree, what kind of tree would you be?"
If the city of Eagan, Minnesota could be a tree, it would be a big, old Bur Oak Tree such as its beloved Lone Oak Tree and Grandfather Tree. That explains the city's logo on water towers as one drives through town on Interstate 35. Years ago, The Lone Oak Tree was where townspeople posted notices and parked milk cans for pickup by the dairy company. Lover's engraved their initials in its bark and children played in its branches. Lone Oak Tree has a church, a festival and a road named after him.
