Current Goal

First Goal Achieved! Special thanks to GeoWyrm for taking part in sending NoobBug off on the second Goal!

Now my second mission is to See The World! Wheeee!

Please consider leaving a log including your story about your introduction to geocaching and some first caching memories or silly anecdotes.

This bug was dropped off in Carseland, AB Canada in Aug 2009, it's first goal was to travel across Canada and make it home by the year end of 2012. As it turned out, this lil guy made it back in good time and was wandering around the Albertan Badlands and Calgary for the beginning of 2012!

About This Item

003

I was a new geo-cacher when I first sent NoobBug out into the world. In fact, the trackable tag came with my purchase of my first GPS! A few caches in and I was ready to tackle trackables.

Geocaching has given me and my family a way to spend good quality time together, being active while de-stressing and exploring the world around us! Planning for a weekend cache became our way to be inspired to get out on weekends instead of spending "another-weekend-at-home". I'd known about geo-caching for years, but one bad week at work, and I knew geocaching was just what I needed. My husband had no choice but to join me on our first excurtion! What a nerve wracking experience it was, first being scared to look under leaves, then scared to open the container...lest it not be a cache. Fears unfounded and new hobby born, I was in love!

We've ended up with great finds, not just in caches but discovering new green spaces, parks and little nooks and crannies that we wouldn't have known about otherwise. Not to mention the fellow geo-cachers we've met along the way, feeling that little spark of seeing someone approach, GPS in hand, the knowing look and the friendly chats!  Now I've got my brother, father-in-law, uncle, facebook friends and a few co-workers hooked too!

Hey, retrieved the smurf TB from the cemetary today. We are very new cachers ~ today was our first day and the cemetary was our 4th and final of the day - loved it and we're hooked! Will send your little traveller along his journey in the next week and will keep my eye on it as well. We usually drive to Ontario once a year and if it hasn't started moving along and is still within reach at a cache, I'll pick him up again and put it in a cache along the way.
Happy Caching
