I'll share the story of how we found this. Yikes! I think I may need to favorite this one just for the fact that we didn't die while making the grab. We approached GZ fairly quickly, and my husband commented "Hey, that's a cool looking tree." We walked over to it, and he announced that he found the cache. I stood right behind him and took out my pen and paper to take notes for when I logged the caches. He pulled out a TB and handed it to me, then reached for the log book. As he was handing it to me to sign, he dropped the piece of paper explaining geocaching. He bent down to pick it up, then exclaimed "$&!*" as he bounded toward me, telling me to get back. As he was reaching to pick up the paper, he realized there was a cotton mouth right between his feet. I think it was as surprised as we were, but once we moved, it moved into a strike position. We stood there for a few minutes trying to figure out how we were going to get the log book back into the container along with the note and toys that went flying when he threw the cache. ;) We tried, unsuccessfully, to use looooong branches to thrust at the snake and make him move. He just struck as them. We realized we'd have to take the log book, move on to the next cache, and come back later. Once we decided to call it a day, we stopped at GZ again to replace the contents. Luckily, the snake had moved along and we quickly put everything back as we found it just in case he was still lurking. Honestly, I couldn't even see him when my husband did. It took me several minutes to finally see his head standing up--he blended in very well with the surroundings. I'm glad I didn't go for this one by myself because I know I wouldn't be logging caches right now. Thanks for the adventure!

Retrieved Tiki today from Tribute to Pappy #1. He's hobnobbing with some of my other trackables right now and taking a rest from the road. He will be on the next leg of his journey soon.
