About This Item

Baby TB

William - our first child - was born in Bedford hospital on 11th June 2008. We decided to release this TB at the same time as our first Geocaching outing with William (GC1178P 'Diamonds are Forever' - also our 200th cache).

In time, we hope that this log will introduce our William to the joys of caching and that he can follow the adventures of this TB.

Picked up "Baby William" from the Land of the Common People #2 cache. We will move him on to a lovely part of Hampshire when we go down there in about two weeks time... Or at least that's the plan :>)

Excellent idea for a travel bug by the way.

We will report back when we have found him a suitable next stop and will try to include some picture as well as a description of his new home.

Sorry we haven't moved Baby William very far, but we thought we really ought to put him somewhere, as we'd had him over a week. He came with us to Essex, but we didn't manage to find the cache we planned to leave him in, then we took him to Lincolnshire, but downpours literally put a dampener on our caching plans.

So, now he's in a cache by a very nice river, with a nature reserve close by, and some interesting dinosaur and alien cache-mates.

  • William's new home Here's Baby William at his new home (Land of the Common People #2), near a river and a nature reserve just outside Hitchin.
  • Bridge over the River Blackwater Baby William TB came with us to Essex, where we'd planned to leave him near the coast. In the end we didn't make it to that cache, but did go to one earlier in the day in a wood near Bradwell. I was born near hear, and used to dangle jam jars from this bridge to catch sticklebacks.
  • WW2 supply road This track was built in WW2 to take military supplies from the A120 to the nearby Rivenhall Airfield, and goes through the middle of a lovely wood near Bradwell in Essex. The wood is full of lovely bluebells in the spring, has the Blackwater running through it, and is home to the cache Blackwater Bluebells (GC19WZ6). The parts of the track in the wood are now mostly overgrown, but it's still very obvious at the edge of the wood.

This is such a nice idea, and we were glad to find William's TB still at Diamonds are Forever. We'll take him somewhere interesting as soon as possible, but in the meantime, here's a picture to remind him of his time with the diamonds.

Placed in 'Diamonds are Forever', near to Chicksands, Bedfordshire. There was a carpet of foxgloves hereabouts all in full bloom; this was a magical little spot.
Wishing this TB safe and interesting travels.

  • Mrs EH and son At the start of this TB's travels. The foxgloves in the woods were simply stunning today.
