The mission of this geocoin is to travel around the world. Ideally, its stops should include French-speaking parts of the world. It was minted to celebrated the 100th anniversary of St. Boniface, the French quarter of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
1908-2008
The year St. Boniface became a city in ints own right, we were confident our little French city could rival our sister city, Winnipeg, on the other side of the river. The dream of the City of Saint Boniface lasted only 65 years. But despite its amalgamation with Winnipeg, Saint Boniface has not lost its soul. In 2008, we celebrate the culture, the tradition, the passion and the vision of Winnipeg's French Quarter!
L'année où Saint-Boniface est devenue une Cité en bonne et due forme, nous étions confiants que notre petite ville française et catholique pourrait rivaliser avec notre ville soeur, de l'autre côté de la rivière. L'aventure de la ville de Saint-Boniface n'a duré que 65 ans. Mais malgré sa fusion avec la ville de Winnipeg, Saint-Boniface n'a pas perdu son âme.
En 2008 nous célébrons la culture, la tradition, la passion et la vision du quartier francophone de Winnipeg!
