Current Goal

Generally travel for the enjoyment of geocachers (especially the Tolkien fans) and to places associated with Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" and the history of runes. Optional secondary mission is to take it to an active volcano and either throw it in molten lava or take a picture of it with volcano...!

About This Item

Elvish runes on Anduril the Sword (Tolkein)

This geocoin's mission is to spread fun and search out history and knowledge. Only positive and fun aspects of runes are featured here: history and Tolkien's fantasy Middle Earth. See (visit link)

Runes are believed to have started n 150 AD and based on latin and other writing, suited for inscribing on property such as swords. Scandinavia seems to have the most examples of historical runes (see picture gallery) but runes were used across Europe.

(Oh, and be forewarned lest ye hold on to this too long or fall into thievery to steal it! A cursed heaviness will weigh upon your mind if you do, interrupt your slumber, and Sauron's baleful eye and his minions will follow you)!

On Anduril the Sword:

Anar

Nányë Andúril i né Narsil i macil Elendilo.

Lercuvanten i móli Mordórëo.

Isil

[lit. 'Sun.

I-am Andúril which was Narsil the sword of-Elendil.

They-will-flee-from-me the thralls of-Mordor

Got this from "Where Are We?" I think that GC1X27A would make a good place to drop this coin. If I can get down there in the near future I'll drop it there.

If you have this geocoin, please email me and I can help you write in the tracking number, which may be difficult to read. This is the second TB to go missing in New Jersey in only the second cache after launching in PA. New Jersey is getting a bad reputation in my view...
