My mission is to accompany a Geocaching blood donor when she/he donates whole blood or apheresis at an American Red Cross Donor Center. I would like to accompany 2 donors in each of the 50 United States.
In my accompanying green Geocaching micro container is a list of all 50 states (x2. Except Wisconsin, which has 3. My owner took me on my first donor trip and would still like 2 others in Wisconsin to donate.). Please punch a hole in the box next to the state where you took me along to your blood donation before dropping me in a new cache. Please note the city where you gave your blood donation in your log here. Thanks for your donation!
If I have not been to 2 donations in the state in which I currently reside, please send me on my way in the same state.
If you are not a blood donor, but would like to help me on my journey, thanks for your help! Please do not move me to another state until I have been to 2 blood donations in the state in which I currently reside.
The travel bug consists of the dog tag, an American Red Cross GIVEBLOOD wristband, a green Geocaching micro container with the states list, and a tag outlining the bug's mission. It is an a ziplock bag for ease of travel, and will probably only fit in regular (minimum) sized caches.

My girlfriend and I both gave whole blood after a long hiatus (on my part due to taking a cruise with a shore excursion that made me ineligible for a year).

I can't give blood because I had hepatitis 35 years ago, but I'll take this bug to Florida where there are lots of potential donors.
FYI Member of teamgurganus made blood donation while in possession of this TB. Current state summary:

Picked it up at one of the caches on Goose Rock on Whidbey Is, WA. It is missing the micro container with the list of states so tally so far is:
WI - 2 (done).
WA - 1
(all other states 0).
I just donated 2 weeks ago so may drop this off for someone else to donate or get another member of Teamgurganus to give some blood. Wonderful idea.

I'm a regular blood donor, but when my friend found this bug, I realized I probably wouldn't be able to give blood and I was right. I tried, but it was too close to finishing a dose of antibiotics. However, my friend 4summers DID give blood and I wanted to try so she would give. We live in an area where you have to attend a "blood drive" and not an area where you can drop in to donate anytime at a blood bank/hospital. Instead of keeping the bug, I'm merely discovering it in hopes it'll motivate someone that hasn't given blood in a long time to do so. What a great idea for a travel bug!
