This riverwalk used to be a famous river, then was covered over before WWII, then became a sewer, then they built an elevated highway on top of that. The current president was then the mayor of Seoul and had a crazy idea to tear down the busiest highway in a city of 20 million plus and divert a sewer, and make the old river into a family park. It worked and is remarkably popular for a former river/sewer/highway.

Admiral Yi has to be one of the most fascinating people in Navy history. Had impressive victories against imposing foes only to be betrayed by a jealous rival and imprisoned. His rival had his assed kicked and lost nearly the entire Korean Navy in the process. The king had to go back and ask the dude he had thrown in jail on a rumor (Yi) to save Korea. Yi then set out with 12 leaky boats and a Navy that had just suffered 80% casualty rate against an Imperial Japanese fleet of over 100. He won...he supposed told his men that they were all dead anyway, the only thing that matter would be that Korea itself would die if they failed. Guess it worked.
