Odin's wanderings
to geocache sites, with any Viking connections - beautiful scenery, coasts, mountains, forests, people, and legends
Manx Viking - “Odin - The Wanderer” - comes from the Isle of Man
The Isle of Man has a strong Viking heritage and in its history, Odin was a great Norse God and Viking King. According to mythology Odin travelled accompanied by two Ravens and a dog.
Manx folklore maintains a belief in Odin as the leader of the Wild Hunt (See Death Coach on Windy Common , GC1N5HT).
Odin's main objective was to track down a lady who was the forest dweller (Huldra, huldran or skogsrået). A Huldra is a stunningly beautiful, sometimes naked woman with long hair; though from behind she is hollow like an old tree trunk, and has an animal's tail.
Odin was typically a lone hunter, save for his two ravens and his dog. It happened once when Odin had gone wandering a great distance, and had been gone so long away that his people doubted if he would ever return home. Because of this his two brothers took it upon themselves to divide his estate and both of them took his wife to themselves. Odin soon after returned home, and took his wife back.
The Isle of Man has 26 Viking Age runestones, large stone slabs with intricate carvings (compared to 33 in the whole of Norway) and one of these stone crosses Thorwalds Cross in Andreas depicts Odin with his Ravens and slaying a wolf.

Found it at Adida.
Looks like a rough viking. I'll take him on some adventures, before dropping it of somewhere else!

Einen schönen Wanderer habe ich da gefunden. Allerdings wird es nicht leicht, einen TB dieser Grösse wieder irgenwo zu verstauen. Aber ich gebe mein Bestes!
