Current Goal

This Painted Wood Disk Travel Bug wants to go to caches along the West Coast and spread the word about;  GHOST NETS!!!!   Take photos of caching FUN along the way and post them here!!

GHOST NET!

What is a ghost net??? They are fishing nets that have been lost accidentally, deliberately discarded, or simply abandoned at sea. They travel the oceans of the world with the currents and tides continually fishing as they progress through the waters. As they are unattended and roaming, they fish indiscriminately, not only catching threatened species but undersized and protected fish as well. It is a real problem. In the old days the nets were made of twine and ropes. They would decompose after awhile. Now they are made of nylon which just goes on and on to fish for years and years. Do a web search and check out how widespread of a problem it is.

Thanks for going to Shore Sure Rocky. Since the cache is disabled for the winter, I nabbed the TB and will seek a cache that is active in the winter so Ghost Net can travel on. Quirktoo

Excited for another day out caching with the guys. Jay stopped by and woke me up. It was still sprinkling out as I ran out the door barely dressed and shoes in hand. Picked up Jeff and, by the time we made it to Big Rapids, the weather finally cleared up. Awesome, well-rounded day with a lot of fun. Most caches signed as GF, BGS, and H4M.

Picked up in Ludington.
