About This Item

WW1 Tank Bug Dog Tag Pin

This is an obsolete early 20th century UK Tank Corps Badge.
A badge was used from before WWI until just prior to WWII . The king's crown surmount was kept on the badge even when on 18 Oct 1923 the Corps was retitled the Royal Tank Corps and a new badge was adopted to reflect the change in Title. Initially the Tank faced the right (as on the 1917 Badge shown here - the travel bug). This was changed when the Beret was introduced as the standard headdress of the corps, as it appeared that the Tank was running away, so the Tank was shown facing left after that.

The badge was donated by a treasure hunting metal detecting musical hobbiest, who works at Brathay.

(visit link) Brathay run activities that aim to positively transform the lives of children and young people, especially those who are vulnerable.
