To travel from geocache to geocache IN HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY ONLY to score points in the SEC Football Challenge.
PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THIS TB FROM HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FLORIDA (TAMPA)!!
This SEC Football Challenge can only be played in caches located in Hillsborough County, Florida …. The object is to earn “points” for the teams by placing them in caches with other SEC football helmet TBs.
How points are scored:
The maximum points are scored by having two helmets placed in the same cache on the same day as their actual game (+/- six days!). If placed in such a manner, the points earned are equal to that team’s actual score at the end of the real game….. plus 7 bonus points for EVERY DAY that the helmets are in the same cache as that week’s actual opponent and 21 bonus points if in the same cache on the game day.
If two helmets are placed in the same cache outside of 6 days of an actual matchup, both teams will receive 7 points for the scrimmage. Obviously, this is the only way to earn points for the teams during the off-season or weeks off.
In short, you cannot help you team out by keeping other team helmets from playing. Geocachers who hold helmets “hostage” so that their rival teams cannot score points are cheating – such activities will result in a 10 point penalty for the team that the TB owner determines is favored by the culprit geocacher, and will also result in the award of 10 consolation points for the hostage helmet!
After some deliberation, I have determined that “multiple” TB helmet dipping on the same day by the same geocacher(s) is acceptable……HOWEVER, geocachers will only earn points for the same two teams once within a 24 hour period. For example, geocachers can move one particular TB helmet around to several different geocaches to scrimmage several different opponents and earn points for each and every game on any given day; however, if a single geocacher were to move and dip the same two TB helmets at multiple geocaches on the same day, those two teams would only earn scrimmage points for one of those meetings.
If actual games are played on days other than Saturday, that game will be considered as having been played on the closest Saturday.
I will post current score totals at the end of the TB’s name in parenthesis, such as “SEC Football Challenge TB – LSU Tigers (24)”
I’ve yet to determine when the game ends……maybe the first to score XXX points, or some set future date…..let’s see how it goes - stay tuned!
