I was really looking forward to finding this historic cache, the oldest one in the great state of California, when I found out I would be hiking this trail with my buddies from Venture Crew 709. It was a gloriously beautiful day. the skies were clear blue and the temperature was mild. I was able to bring my black lab Oscar and he was just about the happiest dog in the world! He got to run free in beautiful meadows, sniff some awesome trails, and take a dip a few times in the lakes to cool off. It was fun to be able to share the trail with some fellow hikers, at least one horseback rider and a ton of bikers. All were very considerate and friendly towards each other. We even passed a Boy Scout troop cooking lunch in a nice shady spot on the side of the trail. The interesting thing about making this find is that while we were looking for it one of our leaders said "Hey guys, do you hear the rattlesnake?" We were glad for the warning and even more glad that the cache location turned out to be no where near the snake in the rocks. The cache where we grabbed this TB was found by one of the young women from the crew. Good Job Piglet! I see this guy has never been to Phoenix. I just may be heading that way.
