May 5th - Cinco de Mayo - On May 5th, 1862, the Mexican Army defeated the French Army at the Battle of
Pueblo. This single military battle signified defeat of a European colonial power and a victory for the Mexican people.
Today, this holiday is celebrated by the Mexican and Hispanic communities as a time of song, dance and food.
(Note: this is not the celebration of Mexican Independence, which is celebrated on September 16th)

any song will do, there is no dance quite like the chicken dance. This dance has made its way into many traditions
