Birka wurde etwa um 790 gegründet und war knapp 200 Jahre lang der wichtigste Handelsplatz im wikingerzeitlichen Skandinavien. Er stand unter dem Schutz des Krongutes auf der Nachbarinsel Adelsö, auf dem die damaligen Svea-Könige ihren Sitz hatten. Während seiner Blütezeit wurde Birka von etwa 700 bis 1.000 Menschen bewohnt, was für eine Siedlung jener Zeit ungewöhnlich viel war und Birka daher auch als Schwedens erste Stadt bezeichnet wird.
Ein junger Mönch namens Ansgar kam im Jahr 830 nach Birka, um die christlichen Evangelien zu verbreiten. Viele der Einwohner wurden getauft und es gab eine kleine Kirche in der Stadt. Trotzdem waren die meisten Menschen in Birka Heiden.
Diese wunderschöne Coin verbindet viele historische und mystische Wikinger-Elemente und ist aufgrund der Details ein wahrer Hingucker und eine weitere seltene Bereicherung meiner Sammlung!
Birka was founded around 790 and was the most important trading center in Viking Age Scandinavia for almost 200 years. It was under the protection of the crown property on the neighboring island of Adelsö, on which the Svea kings at that time had their seat. During its heyday, Birka was inhabited by around 700 to 1,000 people, which was unusually large for a settlement at the time and Birka is therefore also known as Sweden's first city.
A young monk named Ansgar came to Birka in 830 to spread the Christian gospels. Many of the residents were baptized and there was a small church in the city. Even so, most of the people in Birka were heathans.
This beautiful Coin combines many historical and mystical Viking elements and is a real eye-catcher due to the details and another rare addition to my collection!

Interessante Coin!
Eine würdige Bereicherung Deiner unfassbar einzigartigen Sammlung, die inzwischen so groß ist, dass ich es aufgegeben habe, mit Loggen hinterherkommen zu wollen.
Ich hoffe allerdings, dass ich jetzt in der Quarantäne ein paar Fortschritte machen kann - bitte verzeih den Einheitslog.

Zunächst möchte ich mich herzlich beim Owner dafür bedanken, dass ich die Möglichkeit erhalte, mir seine Sammlung etwas genauer anzusehen. Enthalten sind so viele alte und auch seltene Stücke und ich freue mich schon sehr darauf, mir die Listings und die detaillierten Fotos anzusehen. Auch die vielen ausgefallenen Icons sind natürlich ein Anreiz.
Es wird sicherlich Wochen, wenn nicht sogar Monate dauern, bis die komplette Sammlung gesichtet ist und alles "entdeckt" wurde, aber verdient hat sie es.
