This TB wants to haul buggy from cache to cache racking up the miles. Please keep me moving and don't stick me in the pits.
The Shelby AC Cobra is one of the most sought after cars in America, so much so that there are more replicas than there are originals. This is the famed car that all of the stories, rumors, and tales came from such as "It comes with it's own patrol car in back, waaaaay in back." Ending up with 427 and 428 Ford big blocks in the later models, this car was steered as much with the gas pedal as the steering wheel. Despite having a short production run in the '60s, this car dominated the US racing scene gobbling up Vettes every weekend and spitting them out relentlesly. During one such race, a driver after having lapped all Vettes in the field, then pitted for a drink of water allowing the Vettes to pass, and then relaps the Vettes again to finish second behind, you guessed it, the only other Cobra on the track.
Having several different variants with at least 4 motors through the years, this particular one is the most recognized model, the 427 Cobra S/C which is wider to accomodate the big block, with more wheel flares for more rubber, several external scoops for cooling, and those ohhh so obvious sidepipes.
