Current Goal

Mused Bill “Why is Rupert Dashing?
Of course, he’s off Geocaching”

Many thanks to Pieman who not only took Rupert home to Nutwood Down in September 2004. He also took him to Alfred Bestall's house (artist and writer of Rupert Bear stories) in Surbiton. Meer Rescue helped out by taking Rupert close to his own museum in Canterbury (Monkey Caught Cache) in March 2006

About This Item

Rupert Bear

Pieman really is the best,
He always helps me with my quest,
I can’t believe what he’s just done,
Together we always have such a lot of fun.

So where to next I hear you ask,
My owner will need to plan a task.
So just for now I’ll roam around,
Into a mystery cache that someone’s found

Please watch this space,
For the next stage of this bear’s caching race.

To complete your logs, please find the time,
To include a two line couplet rhyme.

[Rupert lives in Nutwood.
Nutwood Down (WGS N51 32.416, W001 28.500) is just off The Ridgeway in Oxfordshire. The "Uffington White Horse" GC8964 cache is nearby and to get here was stage one of Rupert's journey]

He has visted Canterbury, where he has his own museum.
Find out more at this URL!

He also had a trip to Alfred Bestall's House at 58 Cranes Park, Surbiton in April 2008.
Find out more about Alfred's blue plaque at this URL!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Rupert Bear DOES NOT have to travel directly from where you found him to the next location listed, as long as he is helped to another cache he will not mind, he is not in any particular hurry.

Rupert’s Bear Essentials

Rupert Bear is a children's character dating from the 1920's in the UK, who has appeared in the Daily Express newspaper since then and has been anthologised in Annuals since 1936. The annuals contain two-line rhyming couplets under each picture. The artist was originally Mary Tourtel, then in the 1930’s Alfred Bestall took over, latterly John Harrold has been at the helm.
The Rupert stories feature lots of his chums and some relatives in far away places, we will try to introduce as many as possible during this adventure.

This travel bug is sponsored by Amy and Adam’s Grandpa Bob, and frequently supported by Pieman both big Rupert fans!
