This coin would like to travel to World War II battlefields and collect stories and pictures along the way. Please share a story of a friend or family member who served in the war.
I would like this coin to serve as a reminder of those who sacrificed thier lives to protect their nation.
The Gold Star Service Flag hung in the windows of homes with a family member serving in the Armed Forces. The tradition began during WWI and was widespread during WWII. Originally a blue star represented each family member in uniform. When a member died in the service of their country the star was changed to gold. Hopefully we can someday reach a point where there will be no need for more gold stars.
Remember to thank a veteran for their service. American veterans of World War II are dying at a rate of over 1,000 each day.
