About This Item

1

Large coin with lots of heft.  The shape is unusual in that it is a rectangle with curved edges.  The front has wonderful satin silver backgrount metal texture.  There are two medallions, each rimmed with matte red enamel.  The left one has a compass with the "W" replaced by a "O".  There is script in it that reads GC17PMY.  The right medallion has matte blue enamel in the shape of a sailing ship.  The blue script reads "Rendez-vius Quebec 2008 Mega Event".  The outer background has a styalized "4" and a flour de les done in red and blue enamel.  The reverse has lots of busy work.  The left medallion has a design of a sailer using a sextant.  There is a ship in the background and "1608" done in raised metal.  The right medallion shows a modern geocacher and a background of a cityscape.  The script says "2008".  The center medallion is of a nocturanal navigation instrument.  The colors of this medallion are the four commercial colors and the design is devided into quarters.  The total background is done in dark matte blue.  This is a very busy coin.  Would be an excellet rating except for the overwheliming details.  -----------------------------------------------So many of my trackables have been muggled that I only release new GCs as vituals.  If you do not approve, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands.  Thanks.  NR.

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually. After looking at the TB page for each TB that she discovered that I didn't, I found that a number of TB Codes necessary to discover the trackable were included on the TB Page itself or intentionally or as a spoiler in the photo gallery. Sometimes there was an attempt to obsure or hide the TB Code that was not entirely successful making it fairly easy to determine the TB Code needed to discover the travel bug.
