This coin is being released as part of the Todie's Wild Ride Bike Awareness Project initiated by Rockin Roddy in response to the death of his good friend Tod Phillips. On August 12, 2008, Tod was riding a motorcycle when he was killed in an accident caused by a left turning vehicle. Tod was one third of Team Rod & Tod w/KAboom. This coin is released in his memory and in memory of all motorcyclists killed on the road. As part of this coins journey, I would like to collect different tips for drivers to be more aware of motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians. Feel free to add any tips you wish to the logs to share with others.

This coin is part of a huge mission to raise awareness of bikes (both motorized and human powered) on the roadways.
This coins purpose is to remind everyone that the yellow signal light does NOT mean to speed up and try to make the intersection before it changes to red!
Often times you will see someone approaching an intersection with a green light and when that light changes to yellow the driver will floor it to make the light. The yellow signal light does NOT mean to speed up, it is a warning to drivers who are approaching the signal that it is about to change to red and to prepare to stop. Too often the person trying to BEAT the light makes it to the intersection as the signal is still yellow and it changes to red before they even enter the intersection. Many, many accidents are caused by this type of driving behavior. These types of accidents are totally unnecessary and are fully avoidable.
So remember when you are out on the roads to slow down and prepare to stop when that signal changes from green to yellow. You might just save someone's life...
