Hi..!! I’m “Maple the Bear” (aka Eric)… I seemed to have taken a wrong turn somewhere along the way and ended up in Texas. Although it’s pretty interesting here… it gets way to hot for me in the summer. I need to get back to my original travel plans… I want to visit each of the provinces and territories that make up Canada… (… we ‘do’ know how many of each there are and their names… do we not???). Any way… if you could give me a lift over the Northern border… I’d very much appreciate it..

Eric has always be an adventurous bear… checking things out … finding out what makes them tick. He does want to get back to his Canada… but you can be sure that he will enjoy his travels in this country until he gets home. Help him develop a nice and complete travel log if you would. Log entries like “got it”, “left it” doesn’t do proper justice to the person that help him along the way… take a moment and paint a picture with your words as to what was happening when Eric crossed your path… take a few photo shots and add them to the log as well.

Maple had a great New Year's Eve! Greetings from 2018 in Newfoundland! It's looking good!

  • New Year's Eve dinner Maple enjoyed a great buttermilk fried chicken and sweet Belgian waffles with a yummy maple sriracha sauce and sweet potato fries.
  • Maple is enjoying the fireworks!

hScouter... does my heart good to see how Maple is being taking care of... thank you for allowing him to help 'bring in the New Year'... ;)

I was in St. Johns back in 1953 (ish)... and I sat down with Maple, before he started his journey, and described the areas of Newfoundland... (...as I recall... he sat in wrapped attention soaking up every detail...).

I am pleased he has gotten a chance to turn my recollections into reality for him... (...who knows, there may be a time that 'he' sits down in front of his own offspring and recount his own memories of this moment).

Well hello, Maple! It's nice to meet you! Thanks for visiting my new year's eve souvenir event! As a point of interest for your owner, Newfoundland is the most easterly point in North America. Our time zone is a half hour ahead of the Atlantic Time Zone. Therefore, little Maple will be in 2018 for a full half hour before the rest of North America. It's only 6:40 p.m. so far, and I'm already hearing fireworks. I'll see if I can get a picture of Maple and some fireworks from 2018. Thanks for sharing!
