this is one of four travel bugs wandering around a bit. the first three were released at geowoodstock viii. this one is being released at geowoodstock iv. it's goal is to travel a bit and then begin traveling back to knoxville, tn. one of the four has already found its way home!
update: 12/01/13
the road has been long and winding for this one. it started in pennsylvania at geowoodstock iv. i got to the event without a travel bug tag and a friend gave me one. i dropped #4 in a cache and talked with a nice couple from new brunswick. they picked it up and took it home with them. meanwhile..... when i got the chance to activate the tag.... it had already been activated as a travel bug decal on my friend's car..... so.... the plan was to let the travel bug get home again as soon as possible and then take it out of circulation. meanwhile.... the logs got a bit confusing....sorting out the logs that belonged to the geocar and the logs that belonged to the travel bug. i attempted to contact cachers along the bug's journey (without a lot of success) but was finally able to catch the travel bug in a lull. i contacted the cacher holding the bug to ask about getting it returned to knoxville. the cacher kindly agreed to drop #4 in the mail from the new brunswick area. after a few weeks i began worrying again about the bug's status. early this morning i got a text from a geocacher friend who works in the post office processing center in knoxville. attached to the text was a picture of #4. apparently he got to work early this morning and found #4 laying on his toolbox. it had gotten caught in the sorting equipment there in the processing center. a co-worker passed it on to my geocacher friend, knowing he would know what to do. #4 is now safely at home and out of circulation. all logs from this date forward belong to the geomobile! quite a remarkable journey i think!
