About This Item

Don't Forget Your Thongs

Forgive me if my grammar is poor, but I don’t speak Dutch so I am using Google Translate.

Thongs, also known as flip flops, jandels, sandels are open toed shoes common in Australia where this travel bug originated. I did not expect it to travel outside the country and realise that thongs mean different things in different countries.

I’ve enjoyed reading its adventures and frequently have a “where is that” moment when I get the logs to say its travelled to parts of Europe I’ve never heard of. “Don’t Forget Your Thongs” is certainly providing me with a geography lesson.

This travel bug was named by my nephew, then 10 years of age. A pair of thongs is essential part of the Australian wardrobe in summer, useful for traipsing across the hot sand at the beach, or the prickles (which we call bindis) in the grass. Easy to slip on and easy to slip off, very useful footwear.

Thank you for helping it along with its journey.
