Hello! I am the World War II Travel Bug #2 – Battle of the Bulge. My fellow Travel Bugs and I are going to different places made famous by World War II battles and events. The Ardennes Offensive (12/16/1944 – 01/25/1945 was a major German offensive launched towards the end of World War II through the Ardennes forest of Belgium, France and Luxembourg. This offensive is
more generally known as the Battle of the Bulge. German bjectives ultimately were unrealized. In the wake of the defeat, many experienced German units were left severely depleted of men and equipment, as survivors retreated to the defenses of the Siegfried Line. The Battle of the Bulge was the bloodiest of the battles that U.S. forces experienced in World War II; 19,000 American dead!
My goal is to travel to cache GC10CQ3, Band of Brothers – Bastogne - Part 6 and have my picture taken in Bastogne or the Ardennes forest and then travel back to GCQX8A - I-93 Exit 4 Travel Bug Hotel. Please email the photo(s) to matt_boula@hotmail.com. Once I have made it to my destination, please cut off the bottom photo on the other side and place me in a cache to begin my journey home to New Hampshire, USA.
