My name is Apteryx Australis, which is really just a posh name for North Island Brown Kiwi. I come from New Zealand, where I'm an endangered species.
I went to the UK but mysteriously reappeared in New Zealand after about four and a half years.

The kiwi is a nocturnal flightless bird found only in New Zealand's forests and on offshore islands. It belongs to a group of birds called ratites, which means it has a flat breastbone and no keel on the sternum with which to attach flight muscles. The kiwi has a highly developed sense of smell and it uses its long beak to search for worms, grubs and beetles. The female lays an egg which can be up to 20% of her bodyweight - however, due to introduced predators, less than 5% of chicks survive their first year.
