Diese Atemweghilfe soll uns an unsere kleinsten Patienten erinnern. Gut, dass es diese Hilfe gibt - aber hoffentlich brauchen wir sie nicht!
This airway adjunct is to remind us of our smallest patients. Good that there is this assistance - however hopefully we do not need it!


Der Guedel-Tubus ist ein Rachentubus (Oropharyngealtubus), der dazu dient, bei Bewusstlosen das Zurückfallen der Zunge und damit die Verlegung der Atemwege zu verhindern. Die Grösse 000 ist für Frühgeborene.
The oropharyngeal airway (OPA or Guedel pattern airway) is to maintain a patent (open) airway. It does this by preventing the tongue from covering the epiglottis, which could prevent the person from breathing. Size 000 is made for preterm infants.
 

Im Jahr 1933 hat der Anästhesist Arthur Ernest Guedel (* 1883; † 1956) diesen das erste Mal vorgestellt.
