She is to move from geocache to geocache all over the world searching for treasure!
Far above the wooden deck in the crows nest, I examine an island through my worn spyglass. The salty ocean spray dampens the strands of my fine blond hair as it blows wildly in the sea breezes. It has been a decade since I last set foot upon those deserted sandy shores. Then, I had been a castaway from the wreck of the Banshee along with Captain Teer and First Mate Julian Masker. Through the lenses of the glass, I locate and focus on a dark opening of a cave among the rocks above the beach. It was in this cave, we had taken shelter. Before the wreck had broken up, we took care to salvage what we could. Days were spent removing chests of food, gunpowder, tools and clothes. They were stacked carefully in the corners of the cave. After two weeks of sitting on the jagged reef, the wreck of the Banshee began showing signs that the ocean was breaking her up. Each morning when we arrived on the wreck, a few more boards were gone and the cracks in her sides began to widen. Then one morning, we found that the whole ship had shifted during the night. In these final days we removed the three smallest cannons. After all the essentials had been removed, we opened the locked hold and began to remove the treasure. Most of the plunder we had taken were trade items that we had planned to resell. These goods were abandoned. But when we captured the Spanish vessel, Santo Domingo off the coast of Paracas, Peru, we uncovered a real treasure in Captain’s Valdez ’s cabin. This chest of golden objects contained thousands of gold beads, some fashioned as strange heads, others as simple geometric shapes. Buried with the beads were golden knives with handles formed as strange deities and dozens of gilded statues of forgotten gods. We took only this chest and two others containing hundreds of Spanish reales and escudo coins.
Two months later, Julian and I had our chance to free ourselves of Captain Teer’s sadistic control. By pretending to be a helpless lady stranded by pirates with her gentleman father, we were rescued by Portuguese sailors searching for fresh water. Captain Teer was left behind trapped on the island with the treasure.
Now, as Captain of my own pirate vessel and filled with a desire for riches, I have returned to get that Incan gold. As I climb the sandy rocks up to the cave, I realize it has been abandoned for a long time. Lighting a lantern, I enter the cave. In the dim light I see a sand-covered cannon and a rotting wooden chest. And then in a far corner, I find him! Captain Teer! Time has reduced him to a skeleton. His hat dominately rests on his skull and the skeletal fingers of his left hand grasps a parchment note. Reading the message, I realize that the sadistic animal has hidden the treasure in a geocache. But which one? There are nearly a million worldwide! Arrgh!
