MIA is short for Made In America, not Missing In Action. Please move me to another cache so that I can accumulate lots of miles on my odometer.
Missing since February 2010, the copy's mission is to wander from cache to cache in search of the original.
The recent economic downturn has pushed the American Automotive industry to the brink of extinction. This series of Travel Bugs commemorates a sample of the vehicles produced in the industry’s heyday. First introduced in 1949, the Dodge Coronet was completely redesigned in 1953. It gained an optional 241 cubic inch, 150 horsepower Red Ram Hemi engine and set over 100 land speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The convertible version of the 1954 model served as the pace car for the Indianapolis 500. The 1954 Dodge Coronet could be purchased for $2,000 to $3,600. Optional accessories included air conditioning, power brakes, radio, windshield washers, backup lights, and turn signals. Over 90,000 Coronets were produced.
