Our part of the world isn't full of ice hockey venues, but we do have a venerable field hockey club nearby - Blueharts, founded in 1946 and currently with 13 adult teams and a big youth programme. It also used to run the must-visit local fireworks display on Bonfire Night until organisational pressures killed it after 50 years. This is the nearest cache to their ground, and a full-scale practice session was under way on the all-weather pitch as we walked out to it. So, while we couldn't exactly fulfil this TB's mission, we hope we've broadened its horizons a little by exposing it to ice hockey's close cousin...
