„...fahre Memphis!“ // „... going Memphis!“
This short sentence is from the SWR3 radio comedy "Taxi Sharia - horror has four wheels." In the series a Turkish taxi driver named Ützwurst and a passenger named Osterwelle appear.
Each issue of the comedy begins with the question of the driver, „Where you want?“. Due to the large discrepancy between the language levels of the stressed High German-speaking passenger and the driver only speaking broken German, misunderstandings are often the result.
The final running gag is always that the taxi driver, a big Elvis fan and supporter of the ,Elvis‘s alive theory‘, at the end always says „... going Memphis!“, regardless of the destination the passenger lists.
A voice from the off then closes with phrases such as „And so Ützwurst and Osterwelle start to a further Pilgrimage to Memphis.“
