In Japanese, "Omamori" means good luck, and these charms are meant to provide good luck -- especially in your car when driving. The Shisa (or shishi, the word for lion) are from Okinawa, where they are double good luck and protection: the male's closed mouth keeps good spirits and the female's open mouth drives away evil spirits. This particular charm kept Hamsterhuey's car safe for six years while in Okinawa. When we returned to the US and it rearranged itself (ok, it fell apart), I repurposed it for a wider audience. Enjoy!
