Current Goal

I am sending this guitar pick geocoin to the UK in honor of Brian May, the lead guitar player for “Queen” It would be nice if it could someday get to him for a keepsake, but I know that is a long shot. I hope it stays alive and gathers memories of “Queen”

About This Item

Brian May GeoPick

Brian May is the lead guitar player and one of the principle song writers for the band “Queen” He is listed as one of the top thirty guitar players of all time! His most famous song is “We Will Rock You” which is played at sporting events all over the world. Queen is not the same band without its legendary lead singer and front man Freddy Mercury, who died of AIDS : ( My favorite Brian May song is “Too Much Love Will Kill You” which he first played and sang at a Tribute concert for Freddy, that raised money for AIDS research : ) All of the band members had higher educations and Brian had only to present his paper on cosmic dust to get his PHD in Astrophysics! He went professional with Queen, instead, and got his degree twenty years later. His first guitar was one that he and his father made from a fireplace mantel and he still plays it today. The guitar is red so the pick is red! I never saw Queen live, but I have their DVD of their concert at Wembley Stadium, that I picked up after seeing the play “We Will Rock You”, in London. If all you’ve ever heard is “Another One Bites The Dust”, “ We Are The Champions”, and “We Will Rock You”, you don’t really know Queen’s music. They have a rich and varied discography and Brian makes it come alive with his wizardry on guitar!!!!!
