"Seekin' the Beacon" is a Maryland Geocoin
A brief history... this geocoin was once glued to the inside lid of "Seekin the Beakin" cache on Sanibel Island, FL to be discovered by finders of the cache. However, the Florida heat and humidity created a condition that allowed the coin to become unglued and thus released into the wild! The coin traveled for a while in New England and was eventually returned to the owner through mutual S.W. Florida friends. It then happily traveled with it's owner to her ancestry homeland (and all time favorite country), Scotland, in May of 2008.
Currently, "Seekin' the Beacon" is safely (geocoins have a high mortality rate) traveling throughout Scotland and the UK, with gracious Ayr hosts, the PYTG family.

First outing for a long time for the Geocoin. Jeez we've been neglecting it for far too long.
We visited a local Geocaching event/fundraiser. Couldn't hang about too long as we'd other plans made but it was nice to grab a cuppa with some old friends and meet some new ones. Must get this coin moving some more. It really needs the fresh air......

Well, the coin hadn't moved too much recently so as it was a challenging walk ascending almost 4,000ft and taking in two munro's (hills over 3000ft) we thought it would be worth dipping the coin into one of the caches on the mountain. We covered almost 8 miles including the two summits before retiring to the car just over 5 hours later. It was a very special day on the hills. No views on the summits on the way out but spectacular on the way back.

Its been a wee while since we added any mileage to the Coin, so we popped it in and out of Jog the Volcano on Lanzarote. This wee trip was as a result of a holiday we one at a charity event.
