About This Item

Thank You team rjlinney!

Not a bear, but a member of the Koala family – these are the Koalas that the tourist commission doesn’t want visitors to know about! Drop Bears are carnivorous, and trees are their favourite place of ambush – dropping down to feed on kangaroos or anything else that walks beneath them. This Drop Bear LOVES tourists and would like to travel the world meeting new ones! Eucalyptus leaves are definitely not on his menu - and he’s not too fussy who, um… what he eats! Pictures are always welcome! Please do not reveal Drop Bear’s 6 digit tracking number (on metal tag), or leave him on a table at an event cache. Thank you for sharing Drop Bear’s visit with you! Oh, did we mention that he LOVES Tourists?!?

TL;DR: We don't have the trackable (and feel sorry for you if it means it is still missing), but stumbled upon its discovery code.

The story: I discovered this trackable/coin when I cracked the cache "Msportis Coinlihaus der 2." and then was able to reverse-engineer some Coins/TBs of the owner Msporti as well. By pure chance / luck while testing out possibilities for this I also came across this TB/coin. We hope that it's okay that we discover it, if not, feel free to delete this log. TFTC/TFTT 😉

G'day Psychosian,

That was so nice of you to post a note! It certainly isn't your fault Drop Bear went walkabout!!! On the contrary! You were kind enough to retrieve Drop Bear, take him Geocaching with you (even taking a super picture! Thank You!!!), dropped him into a nice cache and wrote a log - Thank You * 5!

T.B.'s can be as much fun for their hosts as their owners - but they can also be a burden, and we realize that. It makes us all the more grateful for the wonderful Geocachers that move them along! Drop Bear's hosts have shared a chapter in their Geocaching experience, and taken us to places we will most likely never see - and for that we are very thankful!

T.B.'s have a tendency to get lost though, and we realize that all too well! We just had an experience with a Geocoin. We dropped one off this weekend, went online to log the find, and to our horror realized there should have been another coin in the cache! We had checked out the swag and had found no coin! Just in case there was a problem, we went back the next morning to retrieve the coin we had dropped off. I had the coin in my hand, and was about to write in the log, when the OTHER coin literally fell into my hand! It was in the log book the whole time! If it had fallen out unnoticed into the long grass either time.... well I shudder to think of it.

T.B.'s have shown up again, sometimes years later (maybe they go to the place missing socks in the washer/dryer go?!?). We won't loose hope that Drop Bear will show up!!! : )

Sorry this was so longwinded! I'll take the blame (husband Pip is busy elsewhere).

Happy Caching everyone - and a heartfelt Thank You!!!

Robbie

Sorry to see Drop Bear is missing. Hope he turns up soon.

It appears he went somewhere after I'd put him there. I did put him in there, I promise!

Thank you so much for your kind note rjlinney! We certainly appreciate it, as we did your original log and all the super pictures you took (including the one for this web page!)! We haven't lost hope that he'll turn up in the bottom of a backpack, in a boot, or along a trail someplace! In the meantime, we'll keep the light on for him...

Drop Bear has apparently gone walkabout! Hopefully he'll remember to ask his kind host/s to log in for him soon...

A BIG Thank You! to all you wonderful folks that have taken him along Geocaching so far, and for the fantastic pictures! They are both very much appreciated!!!

Thank you ayepee!

We wanted to move Drop Bear to an "Unknown Location", but didn't find that option until after we had "retrieved" (not physically) him from City Quest. We've corrected that - Drop Bear is now in an "Unknown Location", and his current Travel Bug Host/s can "Grab" him when convenient.

Have just done City Quest, and I am afraid that there is no sign of your TB (Drop Bear). Reading the logs it has not been seen since the beginning of August.
