Wer ist oder war Lapu-Lapu? Lapu-Lapu ist der Name des Anführers eines philippinischen Eingeborenenstammes, dem zugeschrieben wird, am 27. April 1521 den portugiesischen Seefahrer Ferdinand Magellan auf der philippinischen Insel Mactan getötet zu haben. Magellan segelte unter spanischer Flagge, um Kolonien zu erobern. Damit wird Lapu-Lapu gemeinhin als der erste philippinische Freiheitsheld gesehen. Dass die freundlichen Philippinos diese Sache aber nicht so bierernst nehmen, wie es auf den ersten Moment klingen mag, kann man daran erkennen, dass sie auch einen in den Gewässern um die Insel Mactan vorkommenden und wohlschmeckenden Fisch nach Ihrem Volksheld Lapu-Lapu nennen.

Who is or was Lapu-Lapu? Lapu-Lapu is the name of the leader of a Philippine native tribe, which is attributed to, 27 Killed April 1521 the Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan on the Philippine island of Mactan. Magellan sailed under the Spanish flag, to conquer colonies. Thus Lapu-Lapu is commonly seen as the first Philippine hero of freedom. The fact that the friendly Filipinos take this thing but not so deadly serious, as it may sound to the first moment, you can tell because they call it a in the waters around the island of Mactan occurring and tasty fish for your folk hero Lapu-Lapu.
