As an geodesist working at an university continuing and further education as well as presentation of new research findings are routine duties. On chosen meeting locations GIK-Geocoins will be dropped in order to find their way back home to Karlsruhe.

The 9th Conference on Optical 3-D Measurement Techniques reviewed the latest developments in different technologies, algorithms, processing techniques, systems, hard- and software, to identify the major problem areas and to discuss the direction of future research and development in order to further advance the technology. Recent advancements in geodetic and photogrammetric measurement systems and the rapid progress in the areas of laserscanners, machine, computer and robot vision have opened the way to new applications for optical static and kinematic 3-D measurement techniques.
