War Geocoin

The Vietnam War lasted from 1959 to 1975. Before the war, France ruled Vietnam for 100 years. A few years before the war there were strong tensions between the French colonies and Vietnam. In 1954, French troops were attacked by Vietnam forces and France was forced to leave the country. Shortly after, the Geneva Peace Accords signed by both countries divided Vietnam at the 17th parallel which left France in control of South Vietnam and the communist party controlling North Vietnam. The treaty stated that national elections would be held in 1956 to reunify Vietnam, however this would never happen. It was not until 1975 when South Vietnam surrendered to the North that the war would end. Through the millions of killed and missing civilians and military personnel, this war remains one of the most controversial wars to date.

Due to this war, over 3 million civilian and 1 million military lives were lost, and an additional 300,000 still remain missing.

The Vietnam War Geocoin is a commemoration to all those who have served in the war. It features two Vietnam memorial statues in detailed 3-D imagery, the military Vietnam service medal colors, and the flags of most of the countries which were involved with the conflict.
