About This Item

Goldenhorns - Gold In Denmark, close to the German border, two horns made of gold were found in a field at Gallehus. The first was found in year 1639 and the second in 1734. The horns were made around year 450. In 1802 the horns were stolen by a poor goldsmith named Niels Heidenreich. He melted them in his kitchen and used the gold for making jeweleries under a false name. The goldsmith was caught and put to prisson for 38 years. He died 4 years after getting out. Using old drawings it was possible to reconstruct copies of the horns. These copies have been on display at the National Museum in Copenhagen for many years, true national treasures of Denmark. Incredibly, the copies were stolen in 2007 while on loan to another Danish museum, but fortunately they were soon recovered by the Police. Based on this true story we made the Golden Horns Geocoin. They can now be ordered via this webshop at (visit link) There are two variants, both with Golden horns, but one is with gold edge and gold text, the other is with silver edge and silver text. They are trackable on geocaching.com with their own icon. The coins proudly carry the "DK" tracking code prefix, being designed in Denmark, and the text "Geocaching in Denmark - hiding treasures since the Iron Age".

En meget fin geocoin med en interessant historie at fortælle. Jeg skal gerne blive ved med at flytte den østpå, og måske vil den vinde.

God fornøjelse!!

A very nice geocoin with an interesting story to tell. Gladly, I will keep it moving east and perhaps it will win.

😎 Happy Caching !! 😎
