Current Goal

I would like to travel to all the cities where NHL hockey is played. IF POSSIBLE, I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ATTEND A GAME in that city. Any routes taken would be greatly appreciated. And of course, any other locations will be appreciated as well. Please post any pictures of me in and/or around these NHL venues. Thanks for your help! I got the inspiration for this mission from Sakiman's Travels Around the NHL . Maybe I can go where Sakiman has travelled and further...

The little guy is in good shape and ready to go play. I think he needs a Red Wings jersey to be a true winner LOL.
He will be moved soon.

Bet you thought we forgot!

Once this location went back into play, it seemed like the totally appropriate spot to leave #22 :)

We did manage to take him to the Whalers' opening game (they lost, but #22 seemed to have a good time). I'll post the pix later...but I promise not to wait as long as I did to make this drop...sorry :(

  • #22 watches Whaler game 1 #22 watches Whaler game
  • #22 watches Whaler game 2 #22 watches Whaler game
  • #22 finally on his way! We finally set #22 on his way in one of our favorite TB drop locations...we enjoyed his company, but it's past time he continue his travels, eh?

We've still got this. The weather hasn't been particularly cooperative to go out caching on weekends recently, and the last weekend we got out and fully intending to send some TBs on their way...the caches we visited appeared to be TB black holes (lots of TBs listed as being in them, but not a one there...they'd all disappeared)...so we made the decision to hang on to our TBs 'til we go out east next month.

We took #22 G.O. out on another field trip today...to Compuware Arena, home of the Plymouth (OHL) Whalers. The arena was closed and the parking lot all set up for the weekend drive-in movies (they set up three temp screens and run second-run family flix during the summer)...but one of the arena workers saw us at the door taking photos and ended up letting us inside to shoot a couple of pix!

It was dark in there, and I had to have Canoe Mich Photoshop the pix a bit...so the inside ones are a little washed out...but we've got some stuff to add to your TB's gallery.

Check out the Plymouth Alumni page at http://www.plymouthwhalers.com/history.html and you'll find at least a couple of players with links to the Islanders. We've had Whalers tix long enough to have seen both Eric Cairns and Bryan Berard play as Juniors.

  • On Compuware Arena steps #22 poses on the arena's steps at the main entrance. Shortly after this shot, the arena worker spotted us and let us inside!
  • #22 in Compuware Arena Dark and cold in the arena on this July day, but a little Photoshopping makes it so you can see what's going on as #22 checks out the arena, sheet of ice and Whalers banners.
  • Bryan Berard and #22 Furniture and video games were pushed up against the walls in the hallway, but I was still able to at least find Bryan Berard on the Whalers' Hall of Fame display of players who went on to play in the Big League. I'm thinking Eric Cairns' picture was back behind the Astroids or Dance, Dance machine today :P
  • #22 in front of Compuware Arena sign We stopped by the big arena sign on the way out of the parking lot so #22 could check out the Whalers' logo and check out the skating and hockey class schedules!

On to the next adventure...we've got a couple of ideas for photo ops with this. Just have to get out there with it :)

July 20--we took #22 out to see some sights in Detroit...I'm uploading some photos of his travels :)

  • Stanley Cup...kinda OK...so this isn't the real Stanley cup, but it's the closest we could get around the house!
  • Arriving at Joe Louis Arena #22 arrives at the main entrance of the Joe. We probably won't be back inside until December, when the Great Lakes Invitational college hockey tourney takes place. We've gone to this tournament for years, and it features Michigan State University, University of Michigan, host Michigan Tech and an invited college team.
  • At the Joe still #22 poses for another photo in front of the Joe, home of the 2008 Stanley Cup Champion Red Wings!!
  • #22 checks out the Windsor skyline The Joe is on the Detroit River, right across from Windsor Ontario. This a view across the street from the Joe's main entrance.
  • Spirit of Detroit kinda We were hoping to see the Spirit of Detroit statue decked out in a Red Wings' jersey as in prior Stanley Cup years (it's also worn outsized Pistons' jerseys when we've won the basketball championship). However, the statue was being renovated. They put up a nice, life-sized picture of the statue in a jersey...but parking was an issue, so I had hold #22 in one hand and shoot this out of the passenger-side window of the car with the other hand as we were stopped at the light.
