To see wonders of the world and one day, someday, return home.
This is the First Latvian geocoin, designed on 2008. In the middle of front you can see Latvian boy named Spriditis from very famous national fairy tale. It tells about Spriditis who went away from his home to search for the Lucky Place. On his way he get a lot of adventures, just like geocachers, therefore we can also call him a first Latvian geocacher ;-) He left home with shovel in his hand to look for hidden treasures in the swamp and become rich man but those were only will-o’-the-wisp or maybe he got wrong coordinates? In further adventures Spriditis saved an old man who was good wizard, helped Goddess of the Forest, won the Devil, had a chance to marry princess who in reality was conceited and coddled and at the end of fairy tale returns home and understands that the true Lucky Place can be found only there, at home.
Behind Spriditis you can see Latvia’s contour and it is filled with colours of Latvian national flag: carmine red-white-carmine red.
On the back side of the coin can be seen Latvian traditional ornaments used in decorating belts, dresses, tools but can be also found engraved on stones. These ornaments are more than thousand years old.
