Virtual GC. To travel as far as the Titans did on their journey!
Very large coin with lots of heft. Intricated design, 3-D work and nice enamel work. Translusent enamel over 3-D metal work. Other side shows Medus head and lots of metal detail. The 3-D work is above and beyone what others would have done. Available in other enamel and metal colors. Excellent coin. Info on the coin : Don't look now or you will turn to Stone!
The Medusa, Cache of the Titans coin combines an Athenian geometric design with Greek Mythology. The front features a 3d Medusa head while the back displays the Greek Alphabet.
Medusa, originally a beautiful young woman whose crowning glory was her magnificent long hair, was desired and courted by many suitors. Yet before she could be betrothed to a husband, Poseidon (Neptune) found her worshipping in the temple of Athena (Minerva) and ravished her. Athena was outraged at her sacred temple being violated, and punished Medusa by turning her beautiful tresses into snakes and giving her the destructive power to turn anyone who looked directly at her into stone.
In Greek mythology, Medusa (Greek: Médousa, "guardian, protectress") was a gorgon, a chthonic female monster; gazing directly upon her would turn onlookers to stone. She was beheaded by the hero Perseus, who thereafter used her head as a weapon until giving it to the goddess Athena to place on her shield. In classical antiquity the image of the head of Medusa appeared in the evil-averting device known as the Gorgoneion. She also has two gorgon sisters. The three Gorgon sisters—Medusa, Stheno, and Euryale—were children of the ancient marine deities Phorcys and his sister Ceto, or sometimes (and much less probably), Typhon and Echidna, in each case chthonic monsters from an archaic world.
