Hello. I’m Bernard the Pig and I want to go to my favourite pub – called the “Pig & Abbot” in the village of Abington Pigotts, South Cambridgeshire, UK. Present me to the bar and you can have a free pint of beer. Yes really, a free pint...!
This is just a bit of fun. My intention is to place this Travel Bug at various locations - some close and some distant - and see how long it takes it to get back "home" to my village. I realise that many people are too far away for a visit to be realistic. If that sounds like you, then please move this TB along quickly. Someone, sooner-or-later, will be able to claim their free pint!
Of course, The Pig & Abbot is not a designated Geocache, so while you need to leave it at the pub, you can't "drop" it there on Geocaching.com. Instead, "virtually" drop it against my nearby cache GC1XQTG. If you visit my cache (I hope you do), then record a drop when registering your Find. Otherwise write a Note in that cache log and drop it against the note. If that seems all too confusing, don't worry. I'll know the Pig is home soon enough and deal with all that for you.
If you do claim your pint, then PLEASE ask the bar staff if "John F" is in the pub. That's me - and I'd be thrilled to meet you and buy you another pint!
Pat is the delightful landlady of the Pig & Abbot and is aware of this TB. The bar staff will recognise the pig itself as a token for a pint but if they seem perplexed about the TB tag when you present it, please ask for Pat or Mick who will sort you out. Cheers...!

Oops! I dropped Bernard into a cache somewhere in the Hebrides to start him off an another trip back home. But I've forgotten which one.

Arrived at 'The Pig and Abbott' at 4.15 p.m. Didn't realise the pub didn't open until 6.0 p.m. and, as we had to get back to Birmingham, we couldn't wait, so we "dropped off" Bernard in the church micro cache and actually left it in the hands of a very kind lady who lives in the house opposite the pub and she promised to take it to Pat and Mick when the pub opened, so we hope that she kept her word. Sorry that we could not take up the offer of a free pint but, hey - some you win and some you lose! At least Bernard's back home!!
