This was one of the Four Elements collection of travel bugs released during our Great Road Trip of 2010. This one represents the element Fire, which is associated with the direction south in certain spiritual belief systems.
Ironically, since we started the trip in the southernmost edge of it, it ended up coming back with us to the starting point. So now, in our Great Road Trip of 2012, we are going to attempt to release it again.
I have attached some pictures representing the south, and "fire", to us. This is a tribute to great dates, I suppose. The picture of Matagorda is a remembrance of a night we spent down at the beach there in the early days of dating, and the Broken Obelisk sculpture is a beautiful object that was part of a great date we had in Houston, which involved a walking pub crawl and late night geocaching near the Menil Gallery and Rothko Chapel. We found a cache very close to this Broken Obelisk scuplture and it always reminds me of us: a tribute to broken items being brought back to life through love.
