Basket-smurf has visited the "Lichtjesroute" (Route of Lights) in Eindhoven.
The liberation of Eindhoven by the Allies was on September 18th 1944. The returning soldiers were welcomed by Eindhoven with lights shining behind their windows.
Now every year the Lichtjesroute (Route of Lights) is organized in Eindhoven.
A route of approximately 22 km with a lot of light ornaments can be enjoyed by foot, bike or car for about 3 weeks starting from September 18th, the day Eindhoven was liberated.
And also a geocaching event is organized every year to invite geocachers to cycle the route and they might even find a cache somewhere along the route as you can see on the photo. At the event location everybody comes together again to enjoy some soup, a great tradition!
Maybe you would like to see it as well and participate in the fun, then please visit Eindhoven next year, perhaps during the Geocoinfest Europe 2015 (http://coord.info/GC5E266). You are very welcome!
You were dropped in cache IEEE Region 8, a cache about the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, of course they know everything about lights. But more important: they are international, so this trackable is going to Barcelona now!
