About This Item

ARTFUL 1375 antique token

I found two of these tags in a cache several years ago.  I extensively researched them, and got a lot of answers as to where they might have come from.  Finally, I discovered that Tim Holtz is stamping them as “Idea-ology” Philosophy Tags.  He got the inspiration from a former mine management technique; miners were all assigned a number and given a tag…when they went into the mine, they hung their tag on an array of hooks in the shed near the mine entrance.  When the miners emerged from the mine they would pocket their tag.  So, the management on the surface could tell just how many miners were in the mine.  In case of a cave in, or explosion, they knew how many folks they were looking to recover.

Tim’s invention was the philosophical words that go on the tags.  Enjoy them!I found two of these tags in a cache several years ago.

Philosophical thoughts could be thought everywhere, but some of the deepest kind are inspired by the awareness of human evanescence. Today I placed this tag at a lovely place shared by both the dead and the living. Non omnis moriar - yet not everything dies. Godspeed ARTFUL 1375!

  • Am I happy to have found the Final? - Betcha ^^ All pictures where taken at the very lovely "Blumenfriedhof" ('Flower cemetary') in Bochum, Germany, while walking GC5HEER.
  • Is it the right trail?
  • Will there be hope?
